01 / PLOT MEASUREMENT

Boundaries & segments

How do I enter an exact length like 5 ft 2 in?

Open a segment's edit sheet and tap the Unit control at the top. Choose Feet & Inches and two fields appear — whole feet and inches, with inches accepting decimals. That gives you the exact value instead of a rounded decimal-feet approximation.

Why does the length field only show one unit at a time?

The edit sheet shows exactly the field that matches whatever unit you've selected for the plot — metres, feet, or any other standard unit — so there's one number to trust, not several that can drift out of sync.

What does "Solved by triangulation" mean?

When you edit a segment on a closed shape, the point you're moving is often shared with another segment. Nirman Sathi holds that other segment's length fixed and solves the angle so the shape stays consistent — the note tells you which edge stayed fixed.

Traverse Survey and Triangulation aren't in Survey Methods anymore.

Correct — those two methods are on the roadmap and were removed rather than left as inactive placeholders. Coordinate Method and GPS Survey are both fully available today.

02 / GPS & MAP

Tracking & location

How accurate is GPS Survey?

It's only as accurate as your device's GPS reading at that moment — open sky is far better than under a roof or between tall buildings. Check the accuracy indicator shown while tracking before you trust a point.

Can I export a GPS track or waypoints?

Yes — from a project's Map or GPS screen, export as KML, GPX, or GeoJSON to bring your track into other GIS or CAD tools.

Does the map work without a connection?

Everything else in the app is fully offline, but the Interactive Map's tiles come from Google Maps and need a data connection to load. Your plots, points, and tracks are stored locally either way.

03 / AR & CAD

AR Measure & drawings

Why can't I import a DWG file?

DXF only, by design. DWG is a proprietary format — the only free reader available is licensed under the GPL, which would force the whole app under that license too. Export DXF from your CAD tool (AutoCAD, QCAD, and most others support this directly) and import that instead.

AR Measure seems off by a bit — why?

ARKit measurements depend on lighting, surface texture, and how steady the walk between points was. Well-lit, textured surfaces (not blank walls or glass) give the most reliable readings.

04 / ESTIMATION

Costing & the BOQ

What format does the Bill of Quantities export as?

Choose CSV for a spreadsheet you can open in Excel, Sheets, or Numbers, or PDF for a printable A4 table ready to hand to a client — from the BOQ screen inside a project's Estimation Hub.

Can I change the material and labour rates?

Yes — the Rate Database is yours to edit, and rates can also be imported in bulk rather than typed one at a time.

Which trades does the estimator cover?

Concrete, steel, masonry, plaster, flooring, roofing, paint, MEP, and labour — each with its own calculator feeding one combined cost summary.

05 / DATA & PRIVACY

Where your data lives

Is my project data backed up anywhere?

Not by Nirman Sathi — everything is stored locally on your device, with no account and no cloud sync. We'd recommend keeping your device's own iCloud or local backup turned on, since there's no separate copy on our end to restore from. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

How do I delete a project?

Swipe to delete from the project list, or remove it from Settings. Deleting a project removes every survey point, plot, track, drawing, and estimate that belongs to it — this can't be undone, so export anything you want to keep first.

06 / GENERAL

Everything else

What iOS version and devices are supported?

iOS 26.1 and later, on iPhone and iPad.

I found a bug or want to request a feature.

Email info@rachanatmakeng.com with what you were doing and, if it's a bug, what you expected to happen instead. Screenshots help enormously.

On the roadmap: Traverse Survey, Triangulation as a standalone survey method, and a few export formats beyond CSV/PDF. None of these are available yet — this note exists so "is it me or is it missing" has a straight answer.
